Swing 7 Johnny Varro Swing 7

Johnny Varro enjoys playing with Swing 7 as well as his quintet, quartet, trio, and solo.

The Swing 7 has been featured at Jazz happenings throughout the world. Stateside they've played at Waterloo Village in New Jersey during the JVC Series; the L.A. Sweet and Hot Festival annually; the West Texas Jazz Party annually, and the Sarasota Jazz Society. The band has also toured Germany and played at the Festival in Ascona, Switzerland. The Swing 7 is a very tight unit with special arrangements by Johnny with lots of room for the soloists to improvise. The Swing 7 has recorded for Arbors Records in 1994, 1997, 2000, and 2007 (discography below).

Johnny Varro's Swing 7 was organized in 1994 under the tutelage of Johnny mainly because it would fill a lifetime ambition of his to have a band that would play and encompass all the music he loved and appreciated all his life.

The Swing 7 plays the music of Eddie Condon, John Kirby, Duke Ellington's Cotton Club days in the 30's, Count Basie during the 40's and 50's, and Gerry Mulligan and the Dave Pell Octet in the 60's.
